Steps for a cellulite free Summer!
Summer is around the corner, a time for skirts, shorts and.. cellulite. If you, like many other women (and men) struggle with dimpled legs and buttocks and want to reduce those in time for bikini season it is time to take action.. NOW!
PROPER EXFOLIATION AND MOISTURISING
Exfoliating the dead skin cells away will make the skin brighter and fresher. By exfoliating in a sweeping motion towards the heart, you are going to be improving the circulation – poor circulation is one of the leading causes of cellulite formation.
Dry brushing is a great way of stimulating your lymphatic system and will encourage lymphatic drainage – helping your body to remove waste and toxins. Start by dry brushing twice a week before getting in to the shower, gradually build yourself up to doing it every day in affected areas.
It is expected (and natural) that you may peel in the first few exfoliation sessions, most people’s bums and tums are not used to such motions! Properly hydrating your skin is imperative. Make sure to be using a product that is targeted toward cellulite reduction in your affected areas and a rich cream for all other parts of the body. Use products that are rich in minerals and natural ingredients. Expect a lovely glow!
UPDATE YOUR DIET
Whilst the cocktails may be tempting, it is proper hydration your body needs! Aim to drink 8 glasses of water per day to ensure your body is continuously flushing out waste and retaining goodness.
Aim to eat 3-5 portions of fruit and veg per day, particularly leafy greens! They are packed with nutrients and antioxidants, all of which will help you to keep trim and reduce the formation of cellulite. A spinach smoothie (a cup of spinach, half a banana, a cup of almond milk & your choice of berry) for breakfast is a great way to keep energised throughout the day and get a portion of veg in first thing!
Eat healthy fats, think omega-3 – olives, nuts, oily fish. These are going to help keep the skin toned and healthy.
Avoid processed and fast foods, if it is high in sugar and salt it is going to force your body to retain more water and gain weight, leading to more cellulite!
REDESIGN YOUR EXERCISE ROUTINE
Cellulite can be exaggerated by loose skin and lack of muscle. Incorporate weight training into your regime, particularly squats, lunges, hip thrusts and bridges – really target your glutes! Aim to do 6-8 reps per exercise and 3-4 exercises per session. Always remember to take a rest day after a weights session.
Cardio, the clue is in the name – cardio is about improving your cardiovascular system, improving your blood circulation and stamina. On alternative days to workout sessions go for a fast paced walk or a jog, try uphill sprints and if you have access to a pool – go for a swim! Aim to do 30-45 minutes of cardio per session.
GO FOR TREATMENTS
